Author Guidelines

Please ensure that you consider the following guidelines when preparing your manuscript. Failure to do so may delay the processing of your submission. Please note that there are no set article lengths, though authors are encouraged to be as concise as their subject matter and approach allows.

1. Scope

  • Palimpsest publishes original, unpublished research across literature, media studies, social sciences, commerce, education, science & technology, psychology, and interdisciplinary approaches.
  • The journal is annual and brings out special themes for every issue.
  • Submissions must not be under consideration elsewhere.

2. Types of Submissions

  • Research Articles: 4,000–8,000 words (excluding bibliography).
  • Essays / Critical Reflections: 2,500–4,000 words.
  • Review Articles: 3,000–5,000 words.
  • Book Reviews: 1,000–1,500 words.
  • Interviews / Dialogues: By editorial approval.

3. Language & Style

  • Manuscripts must be in English.
  • Use Times New Roman, 12 pt, double-spaced, one-inch margins.
  • Be consistent in use of British English conventions.
  • Maintain an academic yet accessible style, minimizing jargon.

4. Manuscript Structure

  • Title Page: Title, author(s), affiliation(s), corresponding author details (email, ORCID if available).
  • Abstract: 200 words maximum, with 5–6 keywords.
  • Body: Organized into clear sections (Introduction, Scope, Literature Review, Methodology, Analysis/Findings, Discussion, and Conclusion).
  • Author Bio: 100 words including designation, affiliation, and contact details.

5. References & Citations

  • Acceptable formats: MLA 9th edition or APA 7th edition.
  • Include complete bibliographic information with DOIs/URLs where available.
  • All in-text citations must match entries in the Works Cited/References list.

6. Figures, Tables & Media

  • Insert tables and figures at appropriate points in the manuscript with captions.
  • Ensure that all images, tables, and figures are of high resolution, with a minimum of 300 dpi.
  • Authors are responsible for obtaining permissions for any copyrighted material and must submit the copyright agreement, ethical statement, and consent form (downloadable from the website) in scanned PDF format along with their manuscript

7. Ethics & Permissions

  • All listed authors must provide consent for submission, in the prescribed format provided by the journal.
  • Any research involving human participants must state ethical approval where applicable.
  • Conflicts of interest and funding sources must be disclosed.

8. Peer Review

  • All manuscripts undergo double-blind peer review.
  • Review timeline: Approximately 12–16 weeks from submission to initial decision.
  • Authors may be asked to revise; final acceptance depends on satisfactory revisions.

9. Open Access & Licensing

  • The journal follows an Open Access policy. All articles published in Palimpsest are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0). This license permits unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction in any medium, provided the original author(s) and source are credited. To view a copy of this license, visit http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/
  • All published works will be archived in institutional and digital repositories.

10. Submission Instructions

  • Submit manuscripts in .doc or .docx format only. All required consent forms must be uploaded in scanned PDF format.
  • Email submissions to: palimpsest_reviews@acttdy.com .
  • Submissions must be prepared as two separate files:
  • Main Document – Title page, abstract & keywords, main text and workscited.
  • Author Information – Author bio and other relevant details (to be submitted along with the main document).
  • File name format: PJIS_ Issue Number_ First Major Word of Article_ Main / Consent / Bio / Permission

11. Plagiarism Policy

  • Submissions must be original.
  • All manuscripts will be screened for plagiarism.
  • Any form of academic misconduct may result in immediate rejection or later retraction.
