Alphonsa College Thiruvambady is named after St. Alphonsa, who was a much loved teacher, and upholds the vision of St. Kuriakose Elias Chavara that ‘right education moulds right generation’. The motto of ACT is a quote from Holy Bible: ‘To Witness to the Truth’ (Jn. 18: 38) and it believes that proper education enables men to witness to the truth. ACT was established on 2014 by the Educaitonal Trust of the Diocese of Thamarassery and is affiliated to the University of Calicut. The college, therefore, renders its service, nurturing love of God and service to the humanity and bolstering eco sensitiveness and pride in the nation.
ACT is located in a picturesque ambience of Western Ghats and it offers an opportunity for graduation and post-graduation for the students from the hilly locations. The college aims at the holistic development of each and every student through co – curricular and extra – curricular activities. ACT has an excellent Career Guidance Cell which assists the students to make a right choice in their life and career. ACT follows all Alphonsians even after their academic business in the campus, and makes sure that each of its alumni is employed or is an entrepreneur and is successful and happy in their life.
As Jesus Christ envisaged, in its acts and spirit, ACT attempts to be a shining lighted lamp-stand (Mk. 4: 21) so that those who enter the institution may be illuminated with real wisdom and they become salt of the earth and light of the world (Mt. 5: 13,14). It spells the mantras of ancient Sages: from non-beings to the fullness of being, from death to immortality and from darkness to illumination. ACT works for a better world where all find the true meaning of their being and work for the co-existence.
